Murray has joined Vicus to run the Financial Practice Group after a long portfolio management and trading career. His original plan was to pursue his childhood dream of working in theatre as a designer, spending 2 years at Arena Stage in Washington, D.C. Instead, he earned a B.A. in Economics from Lake Forest College and an M.B.A. from Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management. Murray has worked on and managed trading desks at several large institutions including Continental Bank (now Bank of America) in Chicago and Chase Manhattan in London. He arrived in New York in 1999 and spent nearly 17 years as a portfolio manager at Mariner Investment Group and its affiliates. He has continued to invest and trade as a private investor since leaving Mariner.
Over the years, Murray has been intimately involved in the selection and design of trading room and back office environments both in the US and in London. His eye for design has continued to serve him well as technology and regulations have altered space requirements in recent years.
Murray and his wife, Louise, live in Manhattan and have 4 adult children. He is an avid squash player and still loves the theatre.
